Understanding SSI, SSDI, SSA, & your Service Coordinator's Role

Your Service Coordinator can see if SSI or SSA are active but cannot answer questions regarding reapplication, questions on spenddowns, or wage impacts. The webpage, Disability Benefits 101, can offer additional insight and contact information to learn more!

You can always request your Service Coordinator to provide links, resources, or contact information for anything that may assist you.

What Should I Do if I Need Assistance with Benefits Management Questions While Working?

You can request your Service Coordinator to look into a Benefits Planner through waiver funding, or you can visit the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance section of the Social Security website.

What is “WIPA”?

The Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 allowed Social Security to fund a program called Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA). WIPA staff provide information about work and benefits to people who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) because of a disability.
